The Comfort-Med Pressure Relief Wheelchair Cushion is an economical solution to wheelchair discomfort. Designed with contour cut cells across the top, the cushion allows the user to experience less discomfort as with a solid foam, gel, or pump system while also allowing additional airflow. The interface pressure on the buttocks is reduced by over 50% compared to the pressure created by a solid wheelchair surface. The individual cells conform to the shape of the patient and allow more air under the buttocks therefore effective in preventing and treating pressure ulcers. Because the cells are independent of each other, shearing and friction is reduced and the cushion contours to the patients supported area regardless of their size or shape.
